Ever wondered how it is that some people cope with major changes, big events, and unexpected misfortune, in such a calm and collected manner? They seem to take every curveball in their stride, even managing to turn those challenges into opportunities. It’s because circumstances in their lives have taught them how to be resilient and create an ant-fragility mindset. Resilience and an anti-fragile mindset is not something we are born with, it’s a trait that can be learnt. In this ‘new world’, we are living in, having an anti-fragile mindset is going to be a pre-requisite to keep us on our feet and moving forward. That’s why we all need to master the art of anti-fragility, by wiring it in at a conscious and subconscious level.
Plan and prepare as we may, life remains largely unpredictable. Sooner or later, all of us will have the rug pulled out from under us, and the wind knocked out of our sails. One moment you could be feeling grounded, together, and completely on top of things, and the next moment you could be knocked off centre, and drowning in a sea of uncertainty. Any major life event such as the loss of a loved one, loss of income, divorce, crime, sudden illness, motor accident, natural disaster, or serious pandemic for that matter, will most certainly test your resilience to the extreme.
DEALING WITH EVERYDAY DISRUPTION
Change also tests us in the form of ongoing developments and disruption. The fourth industrial revolution with its disruptive technologies and trends, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI), is changing the way we live and work. Resisting these changes could lead to you falling behind from a technological perspective, and you could soon find yourself unable to compete effectively in the market place. Businesses who want to remain relevant and competitive will have to be agile and anti-fragile to embrace these opportunities, while individuals who want to remain essential in the labour market will have to be nimble in acquiring new skills and becoming more versatile.
YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE POWER OF CHOICE
You can’t always choose what happens to you (or your business for that matter), but you can always choose how you respond to what happens. When life throws you a curveball, you get to decide what you think, believe, and say to yourself. You can’t always control external factors, (and even when you can, it’s not necessarily the most powerful action to take) but you can always control your inner dialogue and attitude, and when you do that, everything else changes too. Whether you’re an individual, part of a team or leader of your team, the most powerful way to bounce back and rally your defenses is to direct your inner dialogue from ‘victim’ to ‘victor’.
It’s not just about thinking of the glass as half-full rather than half-empty, it’s also about accepting that sooner or later your favourite drinking glass will break. Example. Your inner dialogue could play out like this: “Darn it… that was my favourite glass. What a clumsy idiot. That’s just my bad luck.” Or your inner dialogue could go like this: “Darn it… that was my favourite glass, given to me by my favourite uncle. Oh well, I’ve enjoyed plenty of great sundowners in it. I guess I’ll have to dispose of it safely, and haul out that new set that’s been gathering dust since last Christmas. And maybe I’ll give uncle Tom a call to reminisce on old times and catch up a bit.” You’ve just moved your inner dialogue from ‘poor me’ to ‘empowered me’.
Once you understand why you think and respond the way you do, you can actually rewire your thinking. The human brain is amazingly pliable when it comes to learning new methods of coping strategies and behaviour. Nevertheless, many of us find it incredibly hard to rewire our thinking, attitudes, and behaviours no matter how great of a conscious effort we’re making. While it helps to read about the topic and surround yourself with a support system of positive and objective people, rapid and lasting transformation is only possible when you harness the power of your subconcious mind, and understand what is blocking those ant-fragile behaviours and beliefs, and to do that, you need a professional in your corner.
A good life coach might help offer a unique perspective on where you’re at, why you struggle with certain issues, and why you think about things the way you do. After all, you hold the answers to all these questions. However, the challenge is that whatever is blocking your anti-fragile mindset is actually part of your subconscious programming. This means, that without the benefit of rapid transformational Therapy™ (a technique that helps to identify these limiting blocks and then works at rewiring them) this process of discovery can take months, if not years to deliver the results and relief that you no doubt crave and deserve.
A Rapid Transformational Hypnotherapist will work with you to identify issues, investigate their root causes, interrupt thoughts and behaviours that don’t serve you, and install new ones that do. Tried, tested, and trusted, Rapid Transformational Hypnotherapy, or RTT™, harnesses the power of your subconscious mind to deliver rapid and lasting transformation encompassing heart, mind, body, and soul, so that you can enjoy a life of freedom, happiness, and abundance.
